DVDhype - Need other member's help!

Postby Arcmaze on June 7th, 2006, 12:59 pm

So here's my situation...I signed up for the free trial at DVDhype two weeks ago. Decided I didn;'t want to stick with them when no selections arrived during the first week of the trial.
I cancelled my account last Friday figuring I'd just return the three that were "coming" right away to them and be done with it.

I finally got the first dvd from them two days ago, Monday. ETA on DVDhype still shows "ETA: May 30th".
I returned it right away.

I still do not have the other two selections. By my best guess, DVDhype shipped them to me on May 25th.
I reported them as not received and they went into "Stolen - Ship again". Not really what I was looking for, so I submitted a ticket. It let me fill the form on their site and got to the point of submission, only to flip to a screen saying "Your ticket number is XXXXX". Now I can't obviously follow up on that ticket. So I tried the "forgot your ticket number" mailer button. It apparantly re-sent my login information to my email twice since yesterday afternoon. Nothing has arrived.

I'm starting to worry about having to pay for two rather pricey discs. Does anyone have any advice as to what else I can do to protect myself?

Thanks!

When I cancelled I realized they give you no way to contact them except through their site's CS. I think they gave me a contact when they finally responded, I'll post it if I can find it.

Update: Must have deleted it in my rage

Thanks for the replies, folks. the two missing discs arrived yesterday and I shipped them back right away - 2 weeks after Hype "sent" them to me.

I'll definately be disputing any charges and am watching my credit card closely. :)

What kind of way is that to run a company though? sheesh....

I just called my CC company and said they charged me after I cancelled my account, they took it off my bill and that was it, never heard from DVDHype again. :D

Edit: I light of the below, I had an RBC Visa at the time.

I do have a question about the credit card, how do you dispute a charge? I've never had a problem yet, but it would be good to know since rightnow i'm trying different free tials.

I wanted to dispute a charge on my CC, and had to fill an online form with details about it.

Did that, after first calling them on the phone - the rep said he had to mail me some paper form to be filled in and returned.

Seems it might vary, depending on which company your card is with (mine was a PC Financial Mastercard).

A good thing is to make sure you have online access to the account, so you can monitor if credits were paid back to it, or something strange is happening. I have also have a CIBC Visa that does NOT offer online access, so I avoid using the card much.
